【Product Name】Zanjan Persian Rug 【Size】120×73cm 【Material】Wool 【Region of Origin】Iran 【Product Number】3319
Most hand-woven rugs from Zanjan are based on deep red, brown, and light blue, and are adorned with geometric patterns similar to those of Afshar Bijar rugs. The city of Zanjan, located in northwestern Iran, has a mild summer and cold winter climate. The Angoran and Karaver mountain ranges extend between the large valleys of the "Zanjan River" and "Safid River" that form this region. The production of Zanjan rugs began during the time of Ardashir Babakan, when the city was known as "Shahin" or "Shahan." Over time, the city's name changed from Zancan to Zanjan.
Zanjan rugs are similar to Bijar rugs in terms of design, but there are some differences. Zanjan rugs feature larger patterns compared to Bijar rugs. They are woven with only one weft thread and use slightly less expensive wool, but overall, they are very durable and offer an affordable price point for consumers.
