The Bakhtiari nomads live in the Zagros Mountains, around the town of Shahr-e-Kordo, west of Isfahan. Bakhtiari carpets are considered the most popular and durable of the nomadic carpets. They are made from high-quality wool from the tribe's own sheep, which graze in the high mountains, resulting in thick, lustrous wool.
