This kilim is handwoven by the Maimana people, an ethnic minority group living in the mountainous regions of Afghanistan. Kilims are flat-woven, pileless rugs primarily produced in Turkey, Iran, and Afghanistan. In their native lands, they are cherished and well-used; they can be washed with water if they get dirty, or repaired and even remade into bags if they tear.
Though made of wool, it has a smooth, linen-like texture. Its excellent breathability and thinness make it cool even in summer. Dyed with natural dyes made from plants and spices, it is safer than chemical dyes, making it safe for children and pets.
Furthermore, it is durable and easy to care for at home, offering high practicality, so you can use it freely in your entryway or kitchen.
Since the same pattern appears on both sides, it can be used not only as a rug but also draped over furniture or used as a partition, offering various applications. Its light weight also allows it to be hung on a wall as decoration. It folds compactly for easy carrying, making it ideal for camping or picnics.
