This is a vintage Persian Bakhtiari rug woven in the 1970s.
Though approximately 50 years old, it is in excellent condition. This piece clearly shows that it has been carefully used and lovingly handed down through generations.
Featuring an ivory base, it has a traditional design with regularly arranged patterns of vases and birds. Vases holding flowers symbolize "abundance" and "life," while birds have traditionally been considered symbols of happiness. Despite its well-ordered composition, the soft undulations unique to handwoven items add natural warmth to any space.
Bakhtiari carpets are traditional textiles that developed in the mountainous regions of southwestern Iran. Originally renowned for their durability, they have been used extensively in daily life. Their ability to retain beauty over the years is due to their solid weave and high-quality wool.
