The black base creates an elegant and calm impression. The accent colors are a lovely pale reddish purple and a gorgeous magenta pink. The work evokes a noble and mysterious woman, with a certain poisonous quality and a somewhat ephemeral air amidst her beauty.

The design is based on the profile of a lotus flower, known as a palmette. Because the lotus floats on water, it has been a symbol of fertility in ancient Iran and India.


This "double knot" rug is made with twice the amount of wool and twice the effort required for normal weaving. Because it has more knots than normal, the underside is stiffer and less slippery. It also has the advantage of being able to reproduce delicate designs like those found on Persian carpets. It's also twice as durable, making it less likely to tear, and a high-quality rug that you can cherish for years to come.
