This kilim was hand-woven by the Maimana ethnic minority, who live in the mountainous regions of Afghanistan. Kilims are flat-woven, pileless rugs primarily produced in Turkey, Iran, and Afghanistan. They are cherished locally, cleaned with water when dirty, and repaired or repurposed into bags when torn.

Made from wool, it has a smooth, linen-like texture. Its excellent breathability and thinness make it cool even in summer. Dyed with natural dyes made from plants and spices, it is safer than chemical dyes, making it safe for children and pets.

With the same pattern on both sides, it can be used not only as a rug but also draped over furniture or used as a partition. Its lightness also allows it to be hung on a wall. It folds up small for easy portability, making it perfect for camping or picnics.
