Proper Care for Persian Rugs: Tips for Long-lasting Beauty

How to Properly Care for Your Persian Rug: Tips for Long-Lasting Beauty

Easy Maintenance

1. Vacuuming

Vacuuming along the pile direction (with the grain) will lay the pile flat and prevent dirt from penetrating deep into the wool. If you vacuum against the pile (against the grain), finish by vacuuming along the pile direction to lay the pile flat.

* If using a vacuum cleaner with a high-speed rotating brush, the fringes may get caught and damaged, so please remove the vacuum head and use the nozzle.

2. If you spill a drink

First, quickly press down with tissue paper to absorb the moisture.

Next, dab the stain with a tightly wrung damp towel to remove the dirt.

Finally, remove any remaining moisture with tissue paper.

If the stain remains, repeat the process with a small amount of water.

3. If you are concerned about dirt or odor

Lather plant-derived soap or shampoo diluted 100 times with water.

Apply the lather to the stain and dab it with a tightly wrung damp towel, following the direction of the pile.

Wipe off the lather thoroughly with a damp towel and dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.

4. Cleaning every 10 years

For stains that cannot be removed by the methods above, we recommend professional cleaning.

Cleaning approximately every 10 years will help prevent damage to the rug and allow you to enjoy it for longer.

We also offer cleaning and repair services, so please feel free to contact us.

* Silk rugs are very delicate, so self-cleaning is not recommended.

If the stain remains after blotting with tissue paper, please consult us.
