This hand-woven Kashkuli Gabbeh was carefully woven by the Kashkuli tribe of Iran.
Measuring 229 x 159 cm, this striking rug can be laid out comfortably in your living room.
Kashkuli Gabbeh is a higher quality type of Gabbeh, with a finer weave and more delicate patterns than regular Gabbeh. While it has a substantial thickness, its surface is smooth, and the softness felt underfoot is wonderfully pleasant.
In the center, a large "Tree of Life" spreads out. Its branches are adorned with many fruits, and small animals and wildflowers are quietly scattered around it. This is a traditional motif expressing wishes for family prosperity and daily happiness. The ununiform arrangement gives it the warmth unique to hand-weaving.
The wool used is hand-spun and dyed with natural dyes from plants. The calm colors, based on ivory, gray, and brown, blend naturally into both Japanese and Western-style rooms. The way the expression softly changes with the light is also appealing.
Gabbeh rugs originated from the nomadic lifestyle. Having been used in lands with significant temperature differences, they are durable and excellent at retaining warmth. With use, their texture deepens, and they grow into a rug that accompanies your life.
