Compared to kilims from other countries, the patterns are more intricate and the surface is smoother. It employs a sophisticated technique called Soumak weaving, where decorative threads are wrapped around the warp and weft threads. While common flat-woven kilims typically have the same pattern on both sides, Soumak weaving, as described above, is a elaborate technique that creates a three-dimensional finish, making it single-sided.



Being lightweight, it can be used not only as a rug but also draped over furniture or hung on a wall as decoration. It can be folded compactly and is easy to carry, making it recommended for camping and picnics.
