This is a Mashwani Kilim from Herat, Afghanistan, handwoven by the Mashwani tribe. Their specialty, the Soumak weaving technique, requires complex weaving skills, making it difficult to produce, rare, and not widely available in Japan.
This rug combines a kilim with a linen-like texture and no pile, with a pile rug section, resulting in an uneven surface. It features beautiful geometric designs and is very comfortable to walk on.

The regularly arranged diamond shapes create an enchanting design. While it may appear yellowish in bright light, it is actually a beige-toned color created using ochre and dark brown wool threads.

In addition to being a rug, it can also be hung on a wall as it is lightweight. It can be folded compactly and is easy to carry, making it recommended for camping and picnic scenes.
