The Bakhtiari nomads live in the Zagros Mountains around the town of Shahr-e Kord, west of Isfahan. Bakhtiari carpets are among the most popular and durable nomadic carpets. The carpets are made from high-quality wool from sheep owned by the tribe. The wool is thick and shiny because these sheep graze in the high mountains.
