The Taimani are a semi-nomadic people who inhabit the mountainous regions of west-central Afghanistan, including the southern foothills of the Hindu Kush mountains and the area around Ghor Province. They are considered one of the "Chahar Aimaq" (Four Nomadic Tribes) who speak Persian. Through interaction with the neighboring Baluchi people, they have inherited rug weaving techniques and designs. As a result, a unique style known as "Taimani-Baluchi," blending the designs of both groups, emerged. It is said that large-scale production began after World War II.

This piece features a simple yet powerful composition with vertically arranged rhomboid medallions on a deep indigo ground. Triangular motifs are continuously placed alongside the medallions, with a striking color combination of orange and mint green. The red band encircling the edge has a border with a continuous key pattern, creating a sense of depth. Dyes used in Taimani rugs are known for their strong color development, but they also have the characteristic of settling into softer shades over time. This piece clearly shows that depth from age-related change.

The small size of 76x49cm is perfect for placing in small spaces such as an entryway, on a shelf, or by the bedside. It can also be enjoyed as a tapestry by hanging it on a wall.
