The Taimani are a semi-nomadic people whose living areas are located in the mountainous regions of west-central Afghanistan, including the southern foothills of the Hindu Kush mountains and the area around Ghor Province. They are counted as one of the Persian-speaking "Chahar Aimaq" (Four Nomadic Tribes), and through their interactions with the neighboring Baluch people, they inherited rug weaving techniques and designs. As a result, a unique style called "Taimani-Baluch," which combines the designs of both groups, emerged. It is said that large-scale production of these rugs only began after World War II.

This piece features a simple yet powerful composition with vertically aligned diamond-shaped medallions on a deep indigo ground. Triangular motifs are arranged continuously alongside the medallions, creating an impactful color scheme with a combination of orange and mint green. The red border surrounding the edge is adorned with a continuous key pattern, resulting in a rich and profound finish. The dyes used in Taimani rugs are known for their vibrant colors, but they are also characterized by their tendency to settle into gentler hues over time. This piece also shows the depth that comes from this aging process.
