This kilim was woven by the Maimana tribe, an ethnic minority living in the mountainous central region of Afghanistan. Kilims are flat-woven, pileless rugs primarily produced in Turkey, Iran, and Afghanistan. Since the same pattern appears on both sides, they can be used not only as rugs but also draped over furniture or as partitions, offering various uses. Their lightness also makes them suitable for wall hangings. They can be folded compactly for easy transport, making them ideal for camping and picnics.
