This Pakistani rug is hand-woven by reliable and skilled artisans using high-quality New Zealand wool and silk. New Zealand wool is rich in protein, making it characteristically firm and lustrous. The white patterned areas are made of silk. The warmth and softness of the wool, combined with the smoothness of the silk, result in a very pleasant finish. As rugs using silk are rarely made in Pakistan today, this is a rare piece.
Weaving the base color with silk makes the surface shimmer with a pearlescent luster, highlighting the beauty of the design. The dyes are natural, made from plants and spices, making them safer than chemical dyes and safe for use with children and pets.
