This kilim was woven by the Maimana ethnic group, a minority living in the mountainous region of central Afghanistan. Kilims are flat-woven, pileless rugs primarily produced in Turkey, Iran, and Afghanistan. In their native lands, they are cherished and used carefully; they are washed when dirty, repaired when torn, and even refashioned into bags.
Although made of wool, it has a smooth, linen-like feel. It is highly breathable and thin, making it cool even in summer. Since it is dyed with natural dyes made from plants and spices, it is safer than chemical dyes and can be used with peace of mind around children and pets.
The same pattern appears on both sides, so it can be used not only as a rug but also draped over furniture or as a partition, offering various uses. Being lightweight, it can also be hung on a wall as decoration. It can be folded compactly and is easy to carry, making it recommended for camping and picnics.
・Colors may vary due to the lighting conditions on the day of shooting and differences in your monitor or device.
