All handwoven rugs are one-of-a-kind and available only while supplies last. Please note that they are also sold in stores and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is a Mashwani Kilim from Herat, Afghanistan. It is handwoven by the Mashwani tribe. Their specialty, the Sumak weaving technique, requires complex weaving skills, making it difficult to produce and thus rare and not widely available in Japan.
It is a rug with an uneven surface, combining a kilim with a linen-like texture that has no pile, and a pile rug section. Its geometric design is beautiful, and it is very comfortable to walk on.

The regularly connected diamond shapes create an enchanting design. While it may appear yellowish in bright light, it is a beige color using ochre and cream wool yarns.

It can be used as a rug, of course, but it is also lightweight enough to be hung on a wall as decoration. It folds up small and is easy to carry, making it recommended for camping and picnics.
