This Gabbeh was hand-woven by nomads in the Shiraz region of Iran. Among Gabbehs, this is a high-grade one called "Kashkuli," which has a finer weave. Because the knot density is high, it takes more time to weave than a typical Gabbeh, but the pattern is clearer and the feel underfoot is exceptional.
The design depicts farm animals and people's lives in a simple style, like a painting expressing the daily life of a village. The red-based color scheme with blue rivers as an accent brings warmth and a sense of story to the space.
Woven with high-quality wool at a high density, it is very soft to the touch yet durable. The intricately expressed patterns will deepen in character the longer it is used.
