This is a Mashwani Kilim from Herat, Afghanistan. It is hand-woven by the Mashwani tribe. The Soumak weaving technique they specialize in requires complex weaving skills, making it difficult and rare, and not widely available in Japan.
This rug is characterized by its uneven texture, combining a Kilim part with a linen-like feel and no pile, and a pile rug part. Its geometric design is beautiful, and it feels very comfortable underfoot.

The regularly connected diamond shapes create an enchanting design. While it may appear yellowish in bright light, the color is beige, using ochre and cream-colored wool threads.
