Kilim

[Product name] Persian hand-woven kilim [Size] 190 x 124 cm
[Material] Wool [Country of Origin] Iran [Product Number] 101

Suzani kilims are handwoven by Iranian nomads. They are flat-woven tribal rugs called kilims, with embroidery added. While embroidery from Central Asia, particularly Uzbekistan, is well known, the name derives from the Persian word "suzhan" (needle).

The design incorporates stars, which are symbols of happiness and fertility. Stars represent the womb and are therefore also a symbol of the mother goddess, and are imbued with prayers for fertility and prosperity of descendants.

The designs, which are woven one by one by Iranian nomads with prayer, have a value that machine-woven carpets cannot offer. These carpets feature auspicious patterns that symbolize a stable and prosperous life and protection of happiness from disaster.

It's lightweight, so in addition to being used as a rug, it can also be hung on furniture or hung on the wall. It folds up small and is easy to carry, making it a great choice for camping or picnics.
