This is a KHURJEEN rug woven by the Turkmen and Hazara tribes living in the central and northern provinces of Afghanistan. Khurjeen means "saddlebag" in Persian, and it is said that the name originated from the fact that this pattern was actually used on saddlebags in the past and became popular.
