This is a Mamluk design wool rug carefully hand-woven in Afghanistan. A large medallion pattern is placed in the center, and the surrounding red border tightens the overall look, exuding strength and splendor. The beautiful contrast of turquoise blue and red instantly brightens up any room.

It uses wool dyed with natural dyes, characterized by natural colors and a firm weave. The high knot density ensures durability for everyday use. You can also enjoy the unique character of a one-of-a-kind piece.

The origin of Mamluk rugs dates back to 15th-16th century Egypt, but they later came under the rule of the Ottoman Empire (a large empire centered in present-day Turkey) and developed in deep connection with Turkish textile culture. Through trading cities such as Istanbul, they spread to Europe and were highly valued as rugs adorning palaces and churches. The geometric medallions and intricate patterns strongly reflect the influence of Islamic art of that era.

Today, Afghan artisans carefully weave them using traditional techniques, inheriting the historical Turkish Mamluk style. This piece combines a design passed down through the ages with practicality.
